Pasta with broccoli is a typical dish of the Sicily region.
If you want to taste a variant of the recipe and make it a single dish, you can add pieces of roasted sausage or sauteed diced bacon.

Pasta con i broccoli alla siciliana
Ingredients
Instructions
Pasta with broccoli
Ingredients:
500 g of pasta to taste
1 large cauliflower
1 onion
4-5 anchovy fillets in oil
raisins and pine nuts
black olives
olive oil
salt and pepper
toasted breadcrumbs
small pieces of sausage or diced bacon (optional)
Method:
Take the cauliflower (broccoli), cut it and clean it well. Take a pot, pour the cauliflower and water and bring everything to a boil. When the cauliflower is cooked, remove it from the water and leave the pan on the kitchen (with the flame off). Do not throw away the water, because it will be used to cook the pasta.
Meanwhile, prepare the sauté.
Finely chop the onion and put it in a large saucepan. Add some olive oil and cook over low heat. Add the anchovy fillets, black olives, pine nuts and raisins to the sauté previously soaked in a little hot water.
Leave to fry for a few more minutes then add the broccoli (cauliflower) cut into small pieces.
Stir, add a little salt and hot water, cover with a lid and leave to stew over a high flame. Stir the broccoli occasionally and add a little water if necessary.
At this point I advise you to remove a part of seasoning and keep it aside.
Cook the pasta in the water in which you have boiled the cauliflower and when there are two, three minutes at the end of the cooking, transfer it to the saucepan with the broccoli in the pan and finish cooking (add cooking water if necessary).
The broccoli in the pan will be ready when they become one with the sauté (20 - 30 minutes).
Serve the pasta with the broccoli with a nice spoonful of seasoning on top, a sprinkling of pepper and, if you want, some toasted breadcrumbs.
Enjoy your meal!!
